One of the things I love about social media is how it allows me to encounter, follow, and connect with so many bright minds. I’ve been struck in the last couple years by the passionate, brilliant freethinkers I’ve met, and after a while, a thread emerged that intrigued me.

All these people are LEADERS. But not your stereotypical white, straight, wealthy, male CEO-types. And also not the Om-full yoga guru types. (Not that there’s anything wrong with either of those groups of people, per se. It’s just that we have plenty of examples of them already.)

These people lead and influence with great heart and wisdom from wherever they are. I see them as role models for a new generation of leadership. A set of people who embody the idea that Power is for Everyone.

You don’t have to look a certain way or have a particular title or degree. You don’t need PERMISSION to be powerful.

I believe we all need this message now, more than ever. So I’m launching a series of interviews with these amazing people, because I want you to know them and be inspired by them, as I am. I want you to know that, just like them, your power is accessible to you right NOW.

To kick off the series, I invited the inspired Andréa Ranae Johnson to tell us about her journey with power. Andréa Ranae is a coach, writer and facilitator who seeks to offer and uplift practical tools, resources and wisdom in support of each of us recognizing, owning and sharing our power so that we can amplify the impact we have in our communities. She is deeply committed to doing her part in cultivating a world that works for everyone and does so by exploring the intersections of our individual and collective healing, growth and liberation through her work. Andréa believes that together, we rise and she hopes to create spaces which allow for that to happen.

Andréa has struck me with her confidence and self-awareness; she’s wise far beyond her years might suggest, and I know she will inspire you.
