“It’s so hard to focus right now. I keep getting distracted by everything and I end up feeling overwhelmed and anxious.”
When I started coming down with anxiety issues after my divorce, it was so difficult for me to focus or get anything done. I’d watch tv and play games on my phone for hours on end. I had a sense that I was trying to calm my brain down, but the things I was stressed about weren’t going away.
So the anxiety didn’t go away either.
How can we calm our fears when there are real serious concerns in the world? And why should we?!

When we are freaked out, our brains might focus most of their processing energy on generating more stories of terrible things. They catastrophize and dream up nightmares, which make us even more scared.
Why do they do this? In most cases I’ve seen, including my own, there’s a part who is attempting to inspire planning. It’s goosing us to do disaster prep.
But the problem is we can’t do thoughtful planning from an anxious brain. So the best thing we can do is get into a more relaxed state so that we have access to our slower, more informed mental process.
Your brain might fight you a bit when you start trying to get it to relax. It might yell, “no this is an emergency and we can’t calm down!” But that’s even more evidence that putting time into the practice of slowing your mind and calming your nerves is needed.
I built a weekly drop-in session called Get F*cking Grounded for just this purpose.
We are living in an intense time, and for everything we want and need to do, we need calmer brains and nervous systems.
This isn’t about zoning out so we can tune out—I know your mission in the world is too important for that. Instead, we will get you grounded and centered so that you can tune in and hear what your body, your intuition, and Spirit are trying to tell you.
You can easily drop-in to GFG for $20 or join with a monthly subscription of $50.
I hope you’ll join us at GFG. And I’m also here for you if a private Magic session is what you’re craving.
